Malvern Children sing with Exeter Choristers
Date: 10 July 2004
Members of Exeter Cathedral’s boys’ choir concluded their recent tour of Worcestershire with an exciting visit to Somers Park Primary School, Malvern. The choristers, together with Andrew Millington, their director, spent a morning with 120 children in Years 4 and 5. The boys performed a range of serious and light-hearted music, and demonstrated warm-ups and vocal exercises. A number of them spoke to the children about what life is like as a cathedral chorister. Very few of the Somers Park children had ever heard a cathedral choir before, and were noticeably impressed with the quality of the boys’ singing. After break, everyone had a chance to sing. The choristers joined the children, and, under Andrew’s tutelage, they learned an impressive number and variety of songs, which they performed to the other children in the school during assembly.
