Sing World
Date: 19 - 20 October 2005 Location: Worcester Cathedral A celebration of music for the World Church for young people
Sing World was a celebration of music for the World Church. Over 1000 young people from 30 Dudley and Worcestershire Church of England schools took part in the act of worship at Worcester Cathedral on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th October 2005. The participants learnt a wide range of vocal music for the celebration, including music from Latin America, Europe and Africa, and made crosses and banners which featured in the celebration.
In addition to celebrating the rich and diverse musical culture of the World Church, the event focused on situations in which people have striven for freedom and justice for their communities. Young people learnt about these situations in preparation for the event, and found out how they can support campaigns such as ‘Make Poverty History’.
See this webpage for downloadable resources for the schools participating in the project.
