Tudor music workshop for Key Stage 2 teachers
Date: 20 November 2005
On Sunday 20 November 2005, Key Stage 2 teachers had the chance to take part in a workshop on Tudor music and dance, led by Early Music specialists Cathy Dew and Andy Watts. During the workshop, participants were given the opportunity to explore songs, instrumental music and dances of the Tudor court, city and countryside and find out how to teach these to Key Stage 2 children. Participants did not need to play an instrument or be able to read music to participate, but if you did play an instrument, they could bring it along. Copies of songs and dances were available to take away. After the workshop, participants had the opportunity to attend Evensong in Worcester Cathedral, during which the Cathedral Choir sang Tudor liturgical music. The workshop was organised by Early Music West Midlands and took place at the Elgar School of Music in Worcester. Places were free, but a returnable deposit of £20 was required to secure a place.
