Date: 31 July - 04 August 2006 Time: 10am - 4pm each day, performance 7pm on 4 August Location: Bishop Perowne CE High School, Worcester A summer holiday music and drama project for young people aged 9 - 13
During the summer holiday 2006 young people aged 9 to 13, took part in a singing and drama project at Bishop Perowne High School. In just one week they learnt and performed a new musical play based on John Masefield’s acclaimed story, The Box of Delights.
The story featured schoolboy Kay Harker, who is entrusted to keep a magic box safe from the clutches of the evil Abner Brown who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Using its power, Kay and his friends enter strange and mysterious worlds filled with villainous gangsters, kidnapped choristers and the mysterious Punch and Judy man.
During the week the young people worked with Sue Hollingworth and Jon Payne to learn the songs. Vicki Hackett directed the play. Sue, Vicki and Jon are very experienced workshop leaders; they are full of energy and enthusiasm, and made the singing and drama a lot of fun.
