Choir Schools Project Date: 14 November 2007 - 13 June 2008 Time: Academic year 2007-2008 Location: Worcester This project aims to: 1. give primary school children the opportunity to experience high-quality choral singing 2. to give children on keys stages 2 and 3 the chance to develop their singing voices and learn musical skills 3. to help schools develop a vibrant culture of singing together that extends beyond the life of the programme. The initial part of the programme involved nine primary schools, three per term. Following an INSET session for teachers, the Cathedral choristers and two animateurs visited each of the participating schools to carry out a taster session. They began to teach repertoire for performance in a concert at the Cathedral. After much rehearsing with their teachers and with a follow-up visit from the animateurs, sixty children from each of the three schools performed alongside the Cathedral choir in the concert to which friends and family were invited.
