Location: The project will culminate in a performance at the Artrix in Bromsgrove Boys’ Singing Week gives boys in your school the chance to discover how exciting it can be to sing together.
Singworks received funding from Sing Up to run Boys’ Singing Week in Bromsgrove in late January and early February 2008. Sing Up is the Music Manifesto National Singing Programme, produced by Youth Music, The Sage Gateshead, AMV-BBDO, and Faber Music, supported by Government.
Boys’ Singing Week gave boys the chance to discover how exciting it can be to sing together. Our aim for this project wasto help boys view singing in a positive light and be keen to continue using their voices to make music.
The project culminated in a performance at the Artrix in Bromsgrove on Wednesday 6 February 2008. During this concert, approximately 90 boys from three participating schools performed alongside I Fagiolini, a very inspiring, international award-winning, vocal group. Together they sang a number of pieces, including a specially-commissioned work by Roderick Williams.
The project began with a taster workshop led by Geoff Weaver for all Year 5 and 6 boys. After the taster workshop, up to 30 boys from each school chose to participate in the project. These boys attended a further workshop with Geoff, and joined the boys from the other schools to rehearse and perform with I Fagiolini.

Price: There is no charge to participate in the workshops, and there will be a special ticket price for families of young people taking part. We have a small budget to contribute to transport to the combined workshops and performance, but it may be necessary for your school to make a contribution to this.
